Tour Adventures - Week 2
Sleep is important.
Last weekend, it was time to travel to Wakefield and York. On Thursday, the band made their way up to Inverness but I thought it was just that little bit too far for me. I planned to head to Wakefield all by myself...how hard could it be?
And you know what, I'm so proud of myself. Trains are not fun and the displays always seem blurry when I look at them. There were crowds everywhere which suffocated the space around me but I breathed steadily and hopped on a train to Wakefield. I read some of 'Marley and Me' to calm my head and helped myself to some more sweets my boyfriend's mama gave me. I even asked for directions to the venue I was playing at and chuckled happily to myself as the words 'Warehouse 23' came into focus. Success!
I felt my confidence sink again as my hands began shaking through soundcheck. I mentally formed a set in my head and did what I normally do. Turns out drunk people really like 'Zombie' by The Cranberries, however it is difficult to sing and take a breath when I'm nervous. I boogied along to Jagged Little Pill and we made our way back to our B&B for the night. We ordered some essential tour pizza and chatted until the early hours of the morning. Sophie (the singer) became hyper on sugar and attempted to set up Mouse Trap, which proved to be some great entertainment for the evening. I had my first ever full English breakfast the next morning. I still think about it. The owners had a pooch called Milly, who craved attention and enjoyed rolling around in the sun. I was sad to leave in all fairness, it felt like I was back at home.
York is a beautiful place. History swarmed us and castles stood tall. It was fresh and clean, there was too much to take in. We settled into our cosy and modern apartment. Bunk beds? Hell yea. Although, get used to having tea out of a plastic cup. The venue was dark and cold but the people were quite the opposite. My head started ticking as I performed to a silent crowd but it turns out they were just listening, as little likes started to appear on my Facebook page. We did have entry to the strip club upstairs but...urm...I'll pass thanks. Another late night with lots of laughs and more stories. We're halfway through now but I don't want to stop.
