Tour Adventures - Week 3

If you eat enough Aldi noodles, you'll start craving vegetables.

The third week brought on our last two local dates which I was really looking forward to. Worcester was so much fun and it was so lovely to have some family there and some local fans (thank you Lisa!). It makes such a difference performing to an attentive, sober crowd. I messed up my loop pedal but at that point I absolutely didn't care. I had some nice chats with people afterwards and reassured myself that there are some people out there who enjoy my music. That's all that matters.

Let me give my future self some well needed advice. Do not drive into Birmingham if you don't have to. I was stressed before the O2 gig and I think I was getting hints of homesickness for the first time. Nothing unusual there. I love home and I like talking to my family. But I did my performance, as best as I could, and tried my best to not think about whether or not I'd return to see a parking ticket on my car. I've started beginning my set with 'I Wish I was a Punk Rocker' which seems to go down extremely well. Singing a song without my guitar leaves me in my most vulnerable state and a part of me believes the audience appreciates that. The band think I should write my own song a cappella so I'll start working on that.

It's interesting when people holler at an acoustic artist. Sheffield was loud and excitable. I became slightly awkward and shy, growing more conscious of myself and my prescence. I'll put that down to missing home though. I spoke to someone who had travelled to three gigs the band had done which is pretty big dedication if you ask me. How wonderful would it be to have that for myself one day. My day dreaming head was soon filled with dizzy, tipsy thoughts as we relaxed back at our accommodation for the evening. I like cider.

I felt much better the next morning. I had my routinely shower and we all went down for breakfast (it wasn't as good as Wakefield but enough to keep me going.) As we were heading for Liverpool, it was only right that we had a venture down Penny Lane and experienced some Beatles nostalgia. We had a proper lunch with nO NOODLES and headed to the O2. I worked on some songs in my own dressing room, had an interesting soundcheck and performed another decent set to end the week. A lot of people joined in so my spirits were high. Another good night for the band and it was time to head home again. I was exhausted driving home at 2:30 in the morning but enjoyed a crisp sandwich when I got home and a much needed sleep. There's only one week left now and I'm gutted but it's December very soon so time to bring out the hats and some festive spirit. We shall go out on a bang.
